Okay, so I haven’t posted lately. That’s because the past two weeks of class I had to skip. Blerg. BUT, this Friday we made the trek up to the Los Angeles Flower Market [you know, my fave] with the class so that our teacher could give us a formal tour of the market [old hat for this experienced Flower Market Pro, right??] and then we got to shop and create our own arrangements! Steph and I chose a lovely array of ranunculus [my favorite favorite favorite flower, if I haven't said so 10 times arleady!], lilac [in white], tulips, gerbera daises, and some chrysanthemums. So fun! THEN, I waited until late at night to photograph, and used the lamp on my entry table to work with “natural light” [watch me as I switch from florist mode to photographer mode...] and the images came out stunning!! Hope you enjoy!

Not sure if these next two are my arrangement, Steph’s, or one of each…

This is Steph’s overflow arrangement. Two stems of lilac and one daisy. It’s actually in a votive holder!

At this point, aren’t you asking yourself why my lamp and end table ROCK soooo hard???

[Again, not sure if these next few are mine or hers... it'd make sense that the earlier were mine and these were hers, but sometimes my photo-taking is random and not in any order what so ever....]

Note to my readers: this arrangement was, by far, my hardest and most frustrating yet! This is my 2nd attempt at it. I’ve always known that I am NOT good with flowers that grow and bloom upward, like Larkspur, Stock, Hyacinth, Lilac… you can see most of these here if you don’t know what I’m talking about. They are very frustrating for me to design with. I think I’m just not “there” yet. I think it came out really well after attempt #2, but I know that my arrangement, unlike Stephanie’s, is more loose and garden-y, where as hers turned out very round and cute and quasi-perfect. Sad face.

Moral of the story: respect your florist for what they do! It’s such a skill and it takes such natural ability on top of that. I have new respect for florists each time I attempt to arrange! Hopefully some day, I’ll get the swing of things and become a true jack of all trades!
