I know, I’m totally a blog-a-sauras Rex lately! But, there’s too much goodie goodie gumdrops to share with you all, so I have to be! The ever-so-lovely-and-gracious-and-talented-and-tiny Kim Le blogged these images last week of Jess and Brian and I was thrilled to see them! Here’s a few, to share with you. Let’s get physical!
1. My mom is sooo funny. Let’s start this off with a quick fact: neither Josh or I are big alcohol drinkers. We both kinda missed that whole age where we cared enough to get drunk and because of that, we never have! My favorite drink is a coke with a splash of grenadine and a shot of malibu coconut rum. YUM. It’s like… THE best thing ever. I’ve drank this around my mom a few times, so earlier this week… she bought me a bottle of Malibu rum. Mainly because it was on sale ["double coupon!!"] for $9. Complete with the brown paper bag packaging and everything. Too funny.
2. Favorite Josh-ism at the moment: Well, Josh and I are apple computer people. Since we both have killer laptops, we share chargers. We have one in our bedroom and one in the living room. I’m super anal about keeping things charged so mine’s always charging and his is always almost dead [makes me craaaaaazy!!!]. But, my FAVORITE thing is that whenever he takes the charger out of my computer to charge his, he literally says out loud EVERY time “yoink”. It totally reminds me of Shaggy!! ZOIKS!
3. Wedding Trend I’m loving: MASON JARS! Mason jars or canning jars are sold by the 12 pack and can be found at any grocery store. They are the PERFECT homespun detail to add to any wedding. Mason jars with candles, mason jars with flowers… so great! I truly looove the look of this!! I stumbled across this in a blog a while back and saved it because of how much I adore it:

4. So, my sister has taken up Jazzercise. From her stories [just from one week], I kinda HAVE to join. I’ll keep you posted.
5. Embarrassing fact: well, now that Josh had that great “incident” at Caroline and Stephen’s wedding last weekend, I can officially say that BOTH of the Auers have ripped their pants while working an event. Yep. Last December I ripped the crotch of my pants while picking up boxes at a wedding. Thankfully, I had a long coat on that day! Despite the fact that the bodies in the reception area kept the room at a solid 80 degrees, I made it through the night with nobody, besides my laughing assistants, knowing!!
6. Josh the songwriter has done it again. He’s working right now with an up-and-coming high school kid, Taylor Warren, on writing songs for his new album. One of the songs Josh wrote is up on Taylor’s myspace and it’s getting TONS of hits and GREAT response from people in “the industry”. It’s such an amazingly catchy pop song. You must hear it! It’s called “Who I am” and should start playing the moment you click on his page link! I’ll keep you posted on what happens…
7. Taking a break from cable TV this week, I popped in one of my fave movies, High School Musical [though, let's be honest... 2 is WAY better than the original!!!]. I laughed OUT LOUD, alone in my home when I heard this quote, and have now made it my motto-o-the-moment!
“It’s a crowd favorite. Everyone loves a good jazz square”.
Oh, how right you are!!!
8. Tonight was Taco Night at my mom’s house! Ever since I was little, my mom has made these fabulous “gringo” tacos that are a family fave. Mine are especially “gringo”- I’ll admit, as I routinely eat them with just meat, cheese, and ketchup. Ever since I was little. I eat mexican food SO SO much, but have never changed the way I eat my mom’s signature tacos!!
9. Fave picture that didn’t make the blog:
Hi Brittany!! Don’t kill me!! I love how thrilled she looks to be holding Caroline’s train pre-ceremony. She really does LOVE working with me! Promise! :)
10. Favorite thing about my job: my clients. It’s weird, lately I’ve felt myself getting really caught up in the “business” end of things, and getting overwhelmed. There are pockets of time where I feel bad because I’m not booking new clients because I’m already booked, or I’m not getting any new inquiries, or I compare myself to other people in the industry and how it appears they’re doing [which is always the WORST idea]. And it seems like JUST when I get discontent… I’m reminded why I’m in this business to begin with. I am SO thankful for each and every one of my clients! This week, God has placed people in my life to bring me back to reality. And MY reality is, each person that I work with, I love. And more than that, they’re meant for me. I know. I really do! So, thanks to each and every one of you for choosing me, putting up with me, being “for” me, and for the relationship that’s bound to come, for years and years to follow!
I know, seriously!! It seems like it’s been FOREVER since these two got hitched back in May, but Micah Gilmore put these images up recently and I squealed with joy after the long anticipation of what was to come! I am deeply in love with these photos! He seemed to magically capture that unspeakable quality that Les and Kev when you’re around them in person. They’re infectious!! Here’s just a few of my faves:

I must say this first and foremost: having a team of people that I work with, whom I can send out in full confidence and believe in 100% is the BEST feeling in the world! My assistants ROCK so hard! That being said, Janet contacted me a while back, being a friend of Krystin’s and after INSISTING that Janet contact me… I got an email! Since Caroline had already pinned me down for the date, and Janet had explained that her event was a reception-only, mellow affair, my team agreed to take it on for her and split ourselves up that day. I’m SO glad we did!
Meeting with Shawn and Janet for the first time, we all instantly connected. It’s one of those feelings you get from people you just know that you should know in life I was SO sad to not be at their reception and I’m completely living vicariously through the pictures that Alicia [my assistant who ran the event] provided me with. SO, to you two- YAY. Your wedding in Mexico was FAB. Your American-style reception was GORGE. Just what can your actual marriage do to top all of this?? I’m confident yours will be the gift that keeps on giving!! Now, onto the pics!
Since J & S got married in June, they had the opportunity to display and use so many of their drool-worthy wedding photos at their party. Here’s one, in a frame and matte to sign on!
Oh did I mention that Janet is detail-oriented. All of her printed materials have me swooning! I loove them! Signature drink: Sangria. Love it!!

Alicia captioned this picture so perfectly, noting that these little branches with the mirrors on them only kept looking better the later it got, as the mirrors reflected the candle light below!
Kim Chi provided these darling little arrangements for all of our cocktail tables, as well as the two larger arrangements and a few for the bar as well! They kept with the aqua and red theme alright!!
I LOVE Janet and all of her quirky-ness! She provided us with these great random and funky pillows to put all over the lounge furniture [as we kept the event primarily lounge-y and thus set the tone for the evening with such...] You’ll continue to see pops of her personality throughout the blog!
A first time vendor for us, Modern Chair Rental hooked us up BIG time in providing two extra funky and fun chairs for us in the downstairs area. We were more than pleased with their products and service!!
Of course, the ever-popular Red Cheese gave the guests a TON of fun!
In the corner, you can see the craft station that Janet put together for us to set up. She used this interactive guest book for her guests to leave their comments! I love that she tied in the pictures, and the detailing on this “station” was perfect!!

Complete with fondant bows, seriously… in aqua and red, what more could a girl ask for!!
This was a 2-story event! The Rococo has an amazing mezzanine room that overlooks the downstairs main event area. We used this as a sort of “quiet lounge” and kept a slideshow of pics [wedding pics and personal pics] from this gorgeous couple running all night long!

I’ll be honest… when I initially saw these pics, I felt a bit defeated. Mainly because at the meeting, Janet, Shawn, Alicia and myself had a friendly discussion about Janet’s right to wear her wedding dress again [a la Gwen Stefani and her American/London receptions!!]. The issue was still up in the air when we left, but her dress fit her like a GLOVE and I was dying to see her in it. But the more I saw these pics, the more I fell in love with the dress she DID wear! The dress, the hair piece, the shoes… ugh! She pops right off the page in these pics!!

By the time they made their perfectly late arrival, this thing was full up!
Since heavy appetizers and dancing was the plan for the evening, we didn’t waste too much time before cutting the cake and getting our dessert-fest on!

…and, not to toot my own horn or anything but I must train ‘em well because having Alicia talk them through that cake cutting led to this BEAUTIFULLY perfect slice of cake! Man alive, that was one good cut!!

After the cake was being sliced for guests, Alicia and Maria [the assistant to the assistant... sounding a bit like The Office, aren't I??] put together this amazing candy buffet for the guests to grab at! It was hardly up for five minutes before the guests caught on and devoured it! EVERYONE loves a good candy buffet!!
Side note: I think Shawn was most excited about the skittles more than anything else. Maybe even more than the 2nd reception itself! In our meeting, I think we ended up talking about skittles at least 3 times!! A man knows his favorite candy, right??

SO great! Seriously.. this event had a little bit of everything rolled into one! From formal to laid back, innovative to traditional, beautiful and silly… it was great! I know I speak for Alicia as well when I say we were SO honored to work with you two and be a part of this amazing celebration! It’s a great time in your lives, and we’re lucky to spend it with you!

Yay, yay, yay! This wedding was SO fun to work, and SO amazing to be a part of. Caroline’s laid-back personality and spunky presence led the way for the decor at this event. It was full of color, life, and love! The pictures are totally drool-worthy!
I met Caroline over at the San Clemente Inn to do a quick bouquet drop off!
I’m sure you’re sick of hearing about him, but Wayne Toshikazu was there shooting, along with Kim Le taking the lead!

Our ceremony and reception took place both at the Historic Cottage in San Clemente. It was amaaaazing! Onto the ceremony…
Caroline put together some incredibly intricate, fun details!

Yep. These are huge mounds of tissue paper flowers. I loe them.
If you can’t tell yet, the theme was a Mexican fiesta!
Their cake was… incredible. It was so, so, so intricate, amazing, and PERFECT for this type of affair!!
So, I know this is a picture of my husband’s butt, BUT… he tore this huge hole in his pants during the ceremony. Seriously, unreal, right?? Good thing he had a back up pair of pants.
If you haven’t been to the Historic Cottage- you’re missing out! Surrounding the area that we used as the dance floor, is a big, adobe bench that Caroline’s mom sewed all of these pillows for!
After the ceremony, we moved the sweetheart table under the arch for the rest of the evening.
For favors, Caroline made tins of runts candy packaged colorfully, and my FAVE, the personalized Jones sodas again. TONS of different custom pictures and LOTS of flavors!!
We put out the groom’s cake, which was a surprise for Stephen, during the cocktail hour, with this CUTE customized cake topper!!
She gave Country Garden Caterers a few of these cute terra cotta arrangements to decorate the buffet!

Our lovely florals were provided by one of my faves [for brides on a budget, especially], Floral Event Outlet! The bouquets were lush, the centerpieces were just what she wanted, and the vases were so fun wrapped in alternating colors of bright ribbon!
Just before the grand entrance, I caught C & S looking through their polaroid guest book…
And now onto the festivities [they opted to have their entrance, first dance, father/daughter and mother son, and then their toasts all back to back to back to... you get it]. It was a GREAT way to get the formalities out of the way and free up some time to par-tay!

The crew at After Dark Entertainment were GREAT at keeping the party going with their music selection. They also provided these amazing up-lights, which went perfect with our decor and gave this outside space JUST the right amount of vibe and light!!
Caroline and Stephen put together a KILLER slideshow for their guests as well, and we played it just as night was falling…

To Caroline and Stephen- you two are fabulous!! I loved every moment of your event. I’m so honored that I was able to witness your marriage- the ceremony literally gave me chills [and it wasn't just the ocean breeze, I promise!!]. Have SO much fun on your honeymoon, and hopefully you’re checking this in the nick of time before you two take off! I know, C, I promised I’d get ‘em up by Monday!!
Better late than never, right??
1. So, last Thursday on SYTYCD, Gev was eliminated. While that was going on with him, I realized something… he looks VERY much like Scarlet Johansson! Seee….
Similar, right? Something about the eyes/nose/lips combo and placement. I don’t know- I don’t think it’s just me… but, maybe I’m crazy!
2. Style note about my bad self: I’m obsessed with shirts that have “hangies” [a la my headshot and the large bow!]. I do neck hangies, belt hangies, waist hangies, sleeve hangies… if it has a hangie, I’ve probably picked it up and tried it on at least!
3. Wedding trend I loooove [inspired by Mama Mia and the fab, low-key home-spun event featured within]: mismatched chairs! I loove how in the movie, all of the chairs are dark wood, but they’re funky, urban, different, totally eclectic. It makes me want to just buy random sets of chairs to have for occasions like this! Super into that look.
4. Ugh. My biggest complaint right now is like my Achilles Heel!!! My hair. My long, almost-lucious, almost-mermaid-like hair. I have no idea what to do with it. Ever. Argh!! BUT, I’m sticking to my commitment and will continue to grow at LEAST until after my anniversary, in September!
5. Fave Josh-ism: well… I’m a tattooed lady. Not a LOT of tattoos, but a few. I got all of my tattoos between 18 and 19 and I’m not ashamed of them all but Josh, when we married, didn’t have ANY. He always talked about getting some but could never decide [being a musician, the "scene" was full of people who had just whatever tattooed on their bodies, but he wanted something significant to him...]. I told him that if he didn’t have a tattoo by 25, he was officially “over the tattoo hill” in my book and shouldn’t get any. So, the year he turned 25, he got me this for Valentine’s day:
MELT! I loove it. It’s his one and only tattoo. As you can see, he’s still committed to wearing the ring over it, but it was the BEST Valentine’s ever [especially seeing as our tradition for V-day does NOT include gifts of a serious nature...]. Best part: he let me pick the font!
6. Speaking of my fave dancing program above, I officially have a crush on Tabitha Numa!! I LOVE that she’s soo preppy when she’s on as a judge, but when she choreographs, she’s so urban and funky and drrty! It’s my fave. Totally a woman after my own heart. If I was still dancing, I’d be a hipper hopper. Fo shiz.

8. Oh, oh. This is my fave, and it’s mostly for my sister… a while back I came across [on late, late, late night TV] “The World’s Ugliest Dog Competition”. I had to Tivo. I did. And wow… just getting around to watching it, is crazy. I had no idea God made such creatures. Some of the “runners up”:

9. Random Amanda-ism: Q-Tips are probably my favorite product ever invented. Ever. I clean my ears like twice a day [one dry clean, then another "dry off" clean after showers and hair washing], PLUS I use like 3 a day to touch up my makeup. It’s neurotic, but I’m so into them.
10. Lastly, my pet peeve [trying to be more positive here, people, and not make a "hate list" on my blog!!]. Well, it’s myself! I allow myself to go WAY too long, always, without getting my eyebrows done. Luckily, last night, my FAVE esthetician Heather Eaton, took care of my brow-zillas:
