Friday Lovelies

POSTED BY shannon

ITN Blog Sig_Shannon

There’s nothing I enjoy at weddings more than creative personalization, honestly, who doesn’t??

I found these incredible personal photo detail shots over at Feather Love Photography from an incredible outside wedding in Vancouver, Washington. LOVE LOVE LOVE! (The WHOLE wedding post featured by Feather Love is perfect for Friday Lovelies, but I just picked one aspect! So many choices!)

056

I love how these photos give guests a glimpse into the special moments the couple has shared together. Moments that lead them together, brought them closer, and are stories to tell for years to come. Engagements photos can be mixed into this mix, but I just love the fact that these photos follow the couple in all different areas of their lives! You can even add great photos of those close to the couple, bringing a special shout out to the ones you love the most!

I also am crazy about the natural wood clothes pins used to secure the photos and how so effortlessly gorgeous it looks with the setting.

How do you give guests glimpses into you and your love’s memories that brought you closer?

Love and Photos,

Shannon

Rustic Tuscan Style Wedding Table Terra Cotta

Can’t you just tell by the title of this post how much fun it was to create?? I know, I know- for me at least- these are all “old hat”. I’ve been sitting on these images for quite some time but between re-designing my [still in progress] website and losing my hard drive, digging them up was quite the task for me! But I’ll bet you’ll be glad I did!

A few of the major important, compelling elements of the design are these: table runner, benches, tuscan vibe, mustard-colored terra cotta style detailed vase. I found the fabric for the runner and immediately bought a yard of it just KNOWING that someday it’d come to fabulous fruition on a table design. Pairing it with a deep gold pin tuck taffeta overlay gave the design depth and texture, and added to the overall “tuscan” feel. I really wanted to do something different for the seating so I opted to use these Amalfi Benches offered by Signature Party Rental [that would look stunningly amazing at a large, long table if I don't say so myself!]. The flowers were meant to be subtle and adding the green grapes in, which Allison at Flower Allie suggested and created for me was the perfect fit to this European-inspired table.

I picked up these hand-made deep chocolate brown plates and under them rested a scalloped sage green charger plate, just slightly imperfect and unique with their hand-painted finish. I wanted this table to wreak of the “old country”- where people work with their hands and walk both ways up hill to work each day, starting before dawn and finish as the moon rises. Maybe dramatic but the way it came together truly impressed me! We found these mini round containers made of wood and planted a trio of three herbs in each as a favor for the guests, wrapping with a tag and ribbon that complimented our colors perfectly, bringing in the mixture of earth and warmth! Note the tuscan-style of glassware that we opted for, to give that finishing touch to the table instead of settling for the standard [it is ALL in the small details!!]. More pictures for you, I’ll stop typing, I promise!!

I opted to do just a simple triangle fold to the napkin and place it on each seat. Sometimes it’s nice to let the table be the table and allow the design to “rest” in a certain way. Too much clutter can seriously distract from your design!

Chocolate Brown Plates Sage Scalloped Chargers Tuscan Wedding

I’d been dying to use this ombre ribbon for some time now and the colors in this table and runner fabric gave me the perfect excuse. What a way to tie in the deep terra cotta-colored runner than to use a thin accent ribbon on the favors!

A great shot of the stemware, runner, plates, and detailing on the vase:

On either side of the centerpiece rested a wax candle holder. I love how raw and natural these feel and look when you’re up close. There’s actually a glass votive holder and candle INSIDE of this wax base, but when I saw the deep warm tones of these holders, I knew I had to have them:

Scallops are, currently, my favorite thing ever. They’re the new rage, so get into it!

And two last images just to toot the horn of Flower Allie and her team! I LOVED the lush whites in this arrangement!

The “I” List [aka, the "importants" themselves who made this happen]:

Flower Allie ROCKING it out on the centerpiece

Signature Party Rentals supplying all of the tables, benches, and glassware

Rancho Capistrano for their gorgeous site setting the scene for my Tuscan, Spanish dream!

Dress My Chair for their unlimited supply of ivory satin, champagne pin tuck, olive pin tuck napkins, and their always flexible schedule to accommodate my crazy hair-brained ideas!

And last but so so SO certainly not least, Jordana Hazel for the killer snaps that she made in the stressful afternoon of looming rain and pending disaster. Wow, Jords. I’ve got love for ya!

When you think of a Tuscan-style wedding, what comes to mind? For me, a “ruin” on a cliff somewhere with hodge-podge chairs and creaky tables, cement stairs and lots of family love surrounding the evening. I hope this gives a modern edge to a classic wedding theme for you all!

And, of course, if you’re interested in planning your own Tuscan Rustic Italian Spanish Styled Wedding, be it IN the old country or here, in the newbie country, make sure you contact The Most Fun and Stylish Wedding and Event Design Team EVER right away! We can’t wait to work with you, so email me directly and you won’t regret it! I’ve got stylish ideas coming out of my ears, y’all- my EARS!

I booked these clients back in May of this year and could NOT wait till their wedding day came. Well, it did….in June! I recently picked up some images from their fabulous photographer Tony Florez, but have been holding them hostage [you'll see the reason why in minute].

Amel and Ashraf got hitched at the breath-taking view of The Ritz Carlton in Laguna Niguel. Not only was the venue marvelous,  so were the B&G! Check out these photos from their day of LOVE…..

Amel’s pooches are the CUTEST things ever! Her florist couldn’t agree more who made flower collars for them.

Amel and Ashraf had two officiants:   Rev. Don Johnson and Dr. Bazaei who is in the picture above.   Both are very powerful speakers I must say!

Tony captured a great picture of the Bride and Groom doing a traditional Lebanese dance with his grandmother.  She stole the night with her moves!

The Groom’s father was trying to show up his mother pictured above.   He did have a scarf in hand [which is TOTALLY traditional] but my vote still goes to grandma!

IMG_1965

Oh yes they did!  A priceless look on his face as four of his men lifted him and his chair sky high.  He loved every second of it….can you tell?

I can’t help but giggle when I see this.  My fav for sure!

In training, that is. I cannot believe I’ve taken this long to introduce you to our lovely interns. They are literally the BEST and I’m so proud to have them as a part of my team, representing me and growing more and more daily.

Interns

From left, to right: Sharon, Candice, Rachel.

Sharon lives all the way out in Highland, CA [out by Redlands and near Big Bear even!] and trucks herself out to LA and OC just to help us out for our weddings. She’s the BEST at having attention to detail, being a hard worker, and is organized beyond belief. Her reserved, calm manor is totally what keeps me sane. Plus she’s cute, to boot!

Candice is my wonderful colorful card. We got along instantly because our beaus are both musicians. Love that about her. She’s got a killer edge and is SO fun on the job, no task is to weird or too hard for her. Our first wedding together, we were dumping liquid trash into buckets to expedite the bussing process for our clients and she took a straw pretending to drink it! Her laid back attitude makes me feel like anything is possible and is such a confidence booster!

Rachel is my little trooper!! I broke my rule for her and hired her DESPITE the fact that she gets married [likenextweek] and despite the fact that she’s a client. From moment one, we got along. Her design style is keen and she definitely pushes my creativity forward more and more. She just spent a 3-day weekend working her butt off for a huge design client and loved every minute of it [with me, that is a LOT to handle!!].

I love them all and am SO blessed by them. If you have a moment, pop by and leave them some love. There’s a good chance they’ll be around for a long time after their internships have ended, and that you’ll see their faces around more and more.

Here’s a picture of me, Rach, and Candice at our recent wedding in HB [but you'll have to WAIT for teasers on this one!]:

Thanks to Cheesy Photobooths for this one!

And one of me, Britt, Rach and Sharon from Nasim and Amir’s Rancho Las Lomas wedding back in June [their first work night!!]. Holla!!

Love them like I love them.

xoxo!

And I’ll brag if I want to!!

Oh my gosh you guys- it went so, swimmingly well!! I loved every anxiety-filled moment of it. Have I explained before my complete and utter shyness?? Imagine having everyone you’ve ever met from each different path of life pop into the same room all at once… wait, why am I explaining this to you all? You’re planning a wedding! Anyway- it was gorgeous and perfect and lovely. Just enough details to make my heart swoon. Just enough people to make it feel perfect. Just enough love to send my heart up and away for the rest of the month. I am so in debt to those who support me. You all have no idea what it means, truly! Now, if you’re friends with me on Facebook [Become Amanda's friend on Facebook by clicking here!!], you may have already seen these, but a HUGE shout out to Brian Khang for being so utterly fabulous and blogging pictures ever-so-quickly to whet my appetite for more!

The party was, of course, a black, white, and grey themed extravaganza!! The best way I know how to represent!

I wanted it to feel like a classic, vintage Americana themed party with mini desserts, signature drinks, and a modern twist of course!

20090910_01

For the party, I filled my studio space with lounge furniture, specialty lighting, music, details, and a photobooth! All of which were a smash hit with the crowds!

20090910_02

Those gorgeous love quotes on the wall- those are a permanent feature of the In The Now Studio. They’re a labor of LOVE and my favorite part about my studio space for the moment. We truly try to live by, and plan our events with, our signature phrase: loving love, forever and always. It’s so important to me in my personal life, and that spills into my work life so beautifully! One last collage for you from the fave B. Khang:

[Hand cut flag banners + black/white baker's twine + obnoxiously large push pins= somewhere in Heaven there's a place for me!]

Let’s just say: the confetti toss was a hit. Any excuse for me to toss confetti, I’m totally into.
:)

And a special thanks to ALL of my sponsor vendors who made it happen for me:

Signature Party Rentals for their glassware, linens, tables, and basics. And for being totally cool and allowing me to change my mind up til the very last second!!

Sweet and Saucy Shop for gifting me the ADORABLENESS that is her little mini cupcakes. Ugh thanks Melody!! Plus, hello deliciousness!! [Nice to meet you, Sir!]

Sunseri’s Bar Service and Ralph, for being beyond-amazing. Rolling with the punches, and helping my crowd kick back and have FUN!

Karen and Ryan at Cheesy Photobooths who are consistently a good time and who always bring down the house! The guests loved it and I LOVE the pictures!!

Flowers On Mars for providing me with ALL of the lighting my little heart could dream of. Patterned gobos, up lights, down lights… oh my!

And last but CERTAINLY not least- my favorite John Suarez from After Dark Entertainment who pulled through for me last minute to provide some music for the event. Why are you so amazing, John?? I loved having you and Haydee there!

I cannot- not not NOT- wait to see the video that my dear friend Isabel Gonzalez is editing for me of the event. Hold your breath, readers, it’s going to be epic!

Thanks to all who shared with me! Hope your weekend is fab beyond words FAB!

Pardon Our Dust!

POSTED BY Amanda

No- I have not died. I’ve just been busy with this party for tonight!! Josh [the hubba bubba] and I have been working tirelessly on perfecting our studio [well, the viewable areas, anyway] and me and the rest of the team are SO excited to invite you into our humble space. It’s set to be a great event- and if you haven’t taken then time to RSVP yet, please do so! One or two pictures of my man at work to give you a taste of the innards of our office [and, our love]:

Josh covered head to toe in drywall dust. Literally- his hair was that of a powdered wig!!

Prepping for the art that will hang above our couch area. In LOVE with this idea and can’t wait to debut it [hopefully in it's full glory] tomorrow!!

Next week, we’ll be back to our regularly scheduled programming. And if I’m not totally wiped on Friday, I’ll at LEAST have a lovely or two for you!

Hope that you’re weathering the storms this week in ways that are keeping you sane and smiling!

It’s all about the details these days. I’ll bet, if you’re newly engaged, you’re figuring that out pretty darn quick. If you read the magazines, if you read the blogs, if you’re looking at any wedding pictures in any wedding industry circle at all… your are INUNDATED with “the details” of the day.

Truth be told: the little things are what make the biggest waves. My best advice about that: pick it and stick it. If you’re feeling overwhelmed with tons of options and feeling limited on time for your wedding, pick 3 to 5 things that you feel will really make your wedding day special, and do them! Put all the rest aside, and let that be ok.

Pick details that will be memorable. Pick details that will enhance your style and vision for your wedding. Pick details that your guests will appreciate and that you can claim, proudly. And don’t feel like you “must” craft them yourselves [though if you do, Martha would be ever-so-proud].

A recent example for you is this fruitwood box cupcake stand below. The specialness of it? These are actually ice cream cupcakes. Yes, that’s right. For our clients, Alysia and Duong, who married in July at the Cerritos Performing Arts Center, they really wanted something that they loved and that would be uniquely them: ice cream cake. After tossing around quite a few ideas back and forth, we finally found a Bakery that would help us out by creating two flavors of ice cream cupcakes fit to suit the wedding! We quickly came up with the idea to “plate and serve” the cupcakes immediately after the cake cutting [making the cake extra special and mysterious, as it wasn't out all night]. One of the photographers that evening, Dexter Lo [who was actually the 2nd shooter for Hung Tran] captured this image of the “cake” right before the cutting and serving:

Cupcake Stand Wood Stained Tiered

I LOVE this image! Why? Because it reminds me immediately of Alyisa and Duong. Of their wedding. Of the memories I have of them not only on their wedding day, but of our time spent planning together- and how incredibly excited they were when we got them their “dream cake”. And you can bet your bootie that those cupcakes FLEW off that stand like they were made of…. ice cream. Yep, literally. People were double-fisting them. Trying both flavors, coming back for seconds, they were a HIT! SO memorable and so perfect for this wedding.

So, since the proof is in the puddin’, what’s your goal for your wedding? What will your guests “take home with them” [and I'm not talking about favors!]? If it’s all about the details, and you’re wanting to leave a special mark on your guests’ hearts and minds with your wedding- what makes you two uniquely you? And in that same vein, your wedding, uniquely yours? Let’s trade ideas, push each other’s limits, and make each event a night to remember for years to come!

A.

Is it cheating to use something I made as a Friday Lovely?? I hope not! My love for this wedding at the Craven’s Estate back in May runs deep like my heart for this business. Because the floral vision became my own and I got the opportunity to design flowers for this wonderfully trusting couple, I love this wedding. Because the aisle decor was double-used as centerpieces, I love this wedding. Because of the swags of chiffon down the aisle, I LOVE this wedding. Because of the love of the two people who got married here, I love this wedding. Endlessly. I was just reminded by Sarah K. Chen how much I love this wedding when I saw this:

5320_152935692541_675172541_3444984_413286_n

Historic Estate Style Venue in the heart of downtown Pasadena. In love.
Dramatic Black and White color scheme with jewel toned jade green as an accent color. In love.
Hedge-Style Leafy Centerpiece Arrangement with cream spray roses “growing” out. So ridiculously in love.

Have I made your Friday any lovelier?? If not me, show me a picture that IS! Make my Friday lovelier than it already is by inspiring me with the images that inspire you. I’m fueled by your personalities, your passions, your stories, your loves.

I’m out and about- off to Palmdale to “rock it out” as only I know how [click here to visit the website of Southern California's FAVORITE Event Designer and Wedding Planners or just email me directly]. This weekend doesn’t even see me coming! Hold tight, stay safe, and take some time to just BREATHE!

xoxo,

A.
