Rustic Tuscan Style Wedding Table Terra Cotta

Can’t you just tell by the title of this post how much fun it was to create?? I know, I know- for me at least- these are all “old hat”. I’ve been sitting on these images for quite some time but between re-designing my [still in progress] website and losing my hard drive, digging them up was quite the task for me! But I’ll bet you’ll be glad I did!

A few of the major important, compelling elements of the design are these: table runner, benches, tuscan vibe, mustard-colored terra cotta style detailed vase. I found the fabric for the runner and immediately bought a yard of it just KNOWING that someday it’d come to fabulous fruition on a table design. Pairing it with a deep gold pin tuck taffeta overlay gave the design depth and texture, and added to the overall “tuscan” feel. I really wanted to do something different for the seating so I opted to use these Amalfi Benches offered by Signature Party Rental [that would look stunningly amazing at a large, long table if I don't say so myself!]. The flowers were meant to be subtle and adding the green grapes in, which Allison at Flower Allie suggested and created for me was the perfect fit to this European-inspired table.

I picked up these hand-made deep chocolate brown plates and under them rested a scalloped sage green charger plate, just slightly imperfect and unique with their hand-painted finish. I wanted this table to wreak of the “old country”- where people work with their hands and walk both ways up hill to work each day, starting before dawn and finish as the moon rises. Maybe dramatic but the way it came together truly impressed me! We found these mini round containers made of wood and planted a trio of three herbs in each as a favor for the guests, wrapping with a tag and ribbon that complimented our colors perfectly, bringing in the mixture of earth and warmth! Note the tuscan-style of glassware that we opted for, to give that finishing touch to the table instead of settling for the standard [it is ALL in the small details!!]. More pictures for you, I’ll stop typing, I promise!!

I opted to do just a simple triangle fold to the napkin and place it on each seat. Sometimes it’s nice to let the table be the table and allow the design to “rest” in a certain way. Too much clutter can seriously distract from your design!

I’d been dying to use this ombre ribbon for some time now and the colors in this table and runner fabric gave me the perfect excuse. What a way to tie in the deep terra cotta-colored runner than to use a thin accent ribbon on the favors!

A great shot of the stemware, runner, plates, and detailing on the vase:

On either side of the centerpiece rested a wax candle holder. I love how raw and natural these feel and look when you’re up close. There’s actually a glass votive holder and candle INSIDE of this wax base, but when I saw the deep warm tones of these holders, I knew I had to have them:

Scallops are, currently, my favorite thing ever. They’re the new rage, so get into it!

When you think of a Tuscan-style wedding, what comes to mind? For me, a “ruin” on a cliff somewhere with hodge-podge chairs and creaky tables, cement stairs and lots of family love surrounding the evening. I hope this gives a modern edge to a classic wedding theme for you all!
